INFORMATION ABOUT THE COURSE

The Centre for Lifelong Learning at the VŠPJ offers a new continuing education programme to deepen and broaden professional competencies (upskilling).

The programme has been developed in the framework of the project National Renewal Plan for the Higher Education Sector:NPO_VŠPJ_MSMT-16592/2022; 3.2.1 Transformation of Higher Education Institutions.

Educational programme aimed at increasing professional competences in the economic field:

Financial management for non-financial professions

The educational programme Financial Management for Non-Financial Professions is a pilot project sponsored by the Department of Economic Studies of the University of Applied Sciences. It was created on the basis of the results of the analysis of educational needs and requirements of representatives of the application sphere in the Vysočina region.

The Financial Management for Non-Financial Professions training programme is designed for employees from the public and private sectors working in the management field who want to get deeper into the theoretical and practical field of financial management and decision-making, the basics of accounting, corporate financial policies and their coordination. The form of education is flexible, adapted to the workload and possibilities of the learners. The training is partly full-time and partly online.

The proof of the completed training is a microcertificate, which is in accordance with national standardization and European recommendations. The document can be shared with other entities in the field of education and the labour market, both in the Czech Republic and abroad. The document is used for the recognition of learning outcomes in further studies.

Applications for the Financial Management for Non-Financial Professions training programme will be active from 1 September 2023 with a maximum capacity of 15 participants.

ENROLL IN THE COURSE

  • Who is the training for?

The training is intended for practitioners from the public and private sectors (non-financial professions) with at least 2 years of experience (e.g. clerks, administrative staff, middle management, support professions, service workers, self-employed, etc.)

  • Objective of training

The aim of the training is to acquire professional knowledge and skills in the field of financial management of the enterprise (organization) with the possibility of professional specialization or further career and educational growth.

  • Scope of training

The training program includes 4 interrelated learning modules: 1. Financial decision-making in the enterprise; 2. Financial statements and their applications; 3. Financial analysis for corporate practice; 4. Coordination of financial policies of the enterprise. The scope of the module "Financial Decision Making in the Enterprise" is the activities of the enterprise in general, but also in its specifics. The module will deal with the possibilities of legal formation of business activity from the perspective of the natural person entrepreneur and the legal entity. The module will also include an analysis of the property and capital structure of the enterprise, working capital (inventories, receivables, costs, revenues), efficiency of investments. The module "Financial statements and their applications" covers the basics of double-entry bookkeeping. The module focuses on understanding the links between the accounting system and the individual financial statements. Another objective is to understand the principles of preparing financial statements with an emphasis on the interpretation of data from financial statements. The scope of the module "Financial Analysis for Business Practice" is to analyse the past, present and projected future financial performance of a business, obtaining relevant information to assess the health, weaknesses of the business and to prepare future management decisions. The scope of the module "Coordination of Financial Policies of an Organisation" is to describe the operation and coordination of the financial policies of an enterprise (payroll, accounting, tax, credit and subsidy) and the role of financial planning.   • Scope and forms of training

The educational program includes 104 hours of education that can be completed in 3-4 months of intensive study divided into full-time classes, online classes and self-study. The presence teaching in the scope of 20 hours consists of tutorials and practical exercises, the online part includes consultations with the lecturers on practically guided tasks, the self-study part allows the participant to learn independently at his/her own pace in the learning environment of the VŠPJ.

  • Date and place of training

The training program will be implemented in the period October 2023 - January 2024.  The pre-sessional part of the training in the scope of 20 hours will be divided into 8 teaching blocks (2-3 hours per day) and will take place in classrooms of the VŠPJ (Tolstého 16, Jihlava) on selected days (probably Wednesdays in the afternoon). The timetable is published on the website under the "Timetable" tab.

  • End of education

The participant is required to complete 80% of the full-time training and to complete the practical tasks with a minimum of 75% success rate. The training is completed with a practically oriented final paper on a selected topic of approximately 10 pages. A template for the final paper will be made available to the participant. Successful graduates will receive proof of the educational result in the form of a microcertificate. 

  • Price of the training programme

Price for the pilot verification of the training program Financial Management for Non-Financial Professions = 2 2 CZK 100. Payment is made by bank transfer according to the payment regulations sent by the organizers - approximately one week after the e-applications close. The estimated price for the following years will be a minimum of 20 000 CZK.

  • Sign up for training

Application for the training programme will commence in September 2023 via an online application form. The maximum capacity of the pilot program is 15 participants (the program will be open with a minimum of 10 participants). The admission of the applicant is determined by the time of submission of the application form and the fulfilment of the admission requirements (see below). Participation in the training programme does not require passing an entrance exam.

  • Conditions for admission

A candidate for training must have completed a minimum of full secondary general or vocational education culminating in a matriculation examination. Participants in the programme are required to have at least 2 years of experience in the private or public sector as a clerk, administrative, middle management, support, service or self-employed worker. Proof of experience will be required prior to commencement of training in the form of a certificate from the employer, proof of running a self-employed business, etc.
