FOR STUDENTS

The Erasmus programme : Erasmus focuses on higher education, cooperation between higher education institutions, vocational training at university level and cooperation between higher education institutions and businesses. The programme is primarily intended for students, teachers and staff of higher education institutions, but also for trainers from enterprises and other entities.

The Erasmus programme is open to Czech public, state and private higher education institutions (HEIs) as well as higher vocational schools (HEIs) that hold an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE), which is the European Commission's authorisation for a higher education institution to participate in the Erasmus programme.

The Erasmus programme offers students two types of activities:

Study mobility at a foreign higher education institution

    • 2-12 months
    • to be carried out exclusively on the basis of valid inter-institutional agreements between the sending and receiving higher education institution holding the ECHE

Traineeship in a foreign enterprise or organisation

    • 2-12 months
    • implemented on the basis of a tripartite agreement between the student, the sending higher education institution and the receiving organisation, institution, enterprise

Graduate Internship

  • A graduate internship must be completed within one year of graduation, including the length of the internship. The necessary documents must be signed while the applicant is still studying at the university, and the applicant must still have student status at the time of signing the documents.

BIP

  • An international short-term intensive course with innovative teaching elements that combines physical and virtual learning.

A student may undertake a study stay or practical internship abroad for a total duration of no more than 12 months per study cycle (Bachelor's, Master's, Doctoral). He/she can therefore do e.g. 6 months of study and 6 months of practical placement, or e.g. the whole 12 months of practical placement. However, there is always a limit of 12 months per study cycle. Months completed under a previous Lifelong Learning Programme/Erasmus in the same study cycle count towards this period. For multi-year (e.g. five-year) Masters programmes, this maximum study placement/internship subsidy is 24 months.

Who can join - conditions:

    • A student going on a study/internship abroad must be enrolled in an accredited bachelor, master or doctoral study programme at a university or enrolled to study at a higher education institution participating in the Erasmus : Erasmus programme.
    • The student may study full-time, combined or distance learning. And must be enrolled for studies during the entire study period or practical placement (not applicable to graduate traineeships).
    • A student may be a citizen of any country, but must be studying in the Czech Republic in an accredited study programme.
    • The student must be selected in a duly announced selection procedure.

Where you can go:

Study stays and practical internships can only be carried out by students of Czech universities and higher vocational schools in programme countries outside the Czech Republic and their country of residence. The following countries are currently involved in the Erasmus programme:

    • all EU Member States: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden
    • .
    • non-EU programme countries: Northern Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey, Serbia

How to apply:

The International Department informs the students about the current calls for applications and the conditions of the Erasmus selection process via messages in the information system.

Financial conditions:

Based on the conclusion of the participation agreement, the student will receive a scholarship, which is the same for all students leaving the Czech Republic for a study stay or practical placement within the Erasmus programme. The amount of the scholarship per month is fixed. Approved rates for mobility funded by Call 2023:

Increases in scholarship rates for socioeconomic reasons:

A student is eligible for an increase in the Erasmus scholarship rate on socio-economic grounds if:

  • receives a social scholarship at the University of Applied Sciences
  • is entitled to child benefit according to the amendment to Act No. 117/1995 Coll.
  • provides that the family's decisive income does not exceed the product of the family's subsistence minimum and a coefficient of 3.4

The facts on the basis of which the student is applying for the increase must be documented (entitlement to child benefit, social security, etc. scholarship, child/dependency certificate).

The student must apply for an increase in the grant only before the start of the mobility and the entitlement must be supported by the relevant supporting documents (entitlement to child allowance, social security benefits, social security contributions, etc.). scholarship, child/dependants certificate; for child benefit certificate for the last completed quarter).

The student is then entitled to the increase for the entire period of mobility. This increase cannot be claimed after the start of mobility.

Duration of mobility and calculation of the grant

If the expected duration of the stay is longer than specified in the participation contract, the beneficiary may either:
- issue an amendment to the participation contract during the mobility period abroad to take into account the longer duration of the stay, provided that the remaining grant allows it,
- or agree with the participant during the mobility period abroad that the extra days of the stay will be considered as a "zero grant" period, i.e. not covered by the grant,
- the grant amount cannot be increased after the mobility has ended.
- If the confirmed period of stay is longer than stated in the participation contract, any extra days will be considered as a "zero grant" period.

Provided that the minimum eligible mobility period is not affected, if the confirmed length of stay is shorter than the length indicated in the participation contract,
the grantee will act as follows:
- If the difference between the confirmed length of stay and the length of stay indicated in the participation contract is more than 5 days, the grantee must enter in the
Mobility Tool the length of stay indicated on the confirmation (i.e. In the opposite case, i.e. if the difference is 5 days or less, the grantee shall record in the Mobility Tool the period indicated in the participation contract (i.e. In the event of an interruption of the stay, the period of the interruption is not counted towards the grant for living expenses.
In the event of the participant's withdrawal from the participation agreement with the grantee due to "force majeure", i.e. an unforeseeable exceptional situation or event beyond the participant's control which could not have been caused by any error or negligence on the participant's part, the participant is entitled to an amount of grant support corresponding to the actual duration of the mobility as set out in Article 2.2 of the agreement between the grantee and the participant. Any remaining funds must be reimbursed unless otherwise agreed with the grantee.

In the event of suspension of the participant's contract with the grantee by the participant due to "force majeure", i.e. an unforeseeable exceptional situation or event beyond the participant's control, which could not have been caused by any error or negligence on the participant's part, the participant shall be allowed to continue the mobility, provided that the mobility is carried out before the end of the whole project. This case must be recorded in the Mobility Tool as one interrupted mobility.
