On Thursday, December 5, the 178th Plenary Sessionof the Czech Rectors Conference (CRC) took place in Třešt'. The meeting was organized by the College of Polytechnics Jihlava.

The meeting of the plenary session was attended by rectors of public, state and private higher education institutions associated in the CRC. The topic of the meeting was the current issues of higher education in the Czech Republic, including the current situation in the field of science, research and innovation. Issues of cooperation between the Ministry of Defence and higher education institutions were discussed, as well as the transition to the new SISTA information system of the Technology Agency.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports Mikuláš Bek and the Minister of Science, Research and Innovation Marek Ženíšek.

The plenary session of the Czech Rectors' Conference (CRC) adopted the following resolution at its 178th session:

1. The CRC appreciates the handling of the security incident that took place on Wednesday, December 4 2024 at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. Security at higher education institutions is a key priority for all members of the CRC and is given the utmost attention.

2. The CRC draws attention to the unsystematic inclusion of new support for student parents caring for children (the so-called babysitting fee) in the amendment to the Higher Education Act. Since this is a form of social benefit that falls under the responsibility of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the State Social Support Act, this form of support cannot be a burden on the budgets of higher education institutions

3. The CRC draws attention to the need to clarify the timetable of steps and processes associated with the planned termination of the National Accreditation Office for Higher Education and the launch of the new accreditation agency. At the same time, the CRC appreciates the offer of the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Mikuláš Bek, to jointly proceed with the possible modification and supplementation of the relevant legislative documents.
