The College of Polytechnics Jihlava traditionally announces a material collection among employees and students before Christmas to support non-profit organizations in the Vysočina Region. This year, the VŠPJ will support young people aged 7 to 20 from Třebíč, Moravské Budějovice, Jemnice and the surrounding area, who spend their free time in the streets, parks and other outdoor places in an unorganized way. Safe space and outreach work in the streets, as well as professional and basic counselling in the field of relationships, school, drugs, educational problems and violence, support in coping with difficult life situations at home, in a group, within themselves and with the law, help in choosing a school, finding a job, mediation of contact with professionals, leisure activities, all this is offered by the low-threshold facility for children and youth eMBečko, which operates within the non-profit organization Střed, z. ú.

"We try to create conditions and space for young people to use help and support in coping with difficult life situations, to involve them in a group of peers, to help with the development of their ideas, acquiring new information and skills. Our club is a place where we can talk confidentially with clients about their story, difficulties, needs and where they can spend time safely. The fieldwork then takes place on the streets and in parks. In eMBečko, we offer them a space for sharing, information and advice that young people can't go elsewhere for," explains Lenka Homolková from the organizational centre Střed, z. ú.

Non-profit organization Střed z. ú. is based in Třebíč and Moravské Budějovice and has been helping families and their members from the Vysočina Region and the surrounding area in difficult life situations for almost 25 years. The organization's mission is to support personal development, family relationships and community involvement, thereby solving the problems of everyday life and preventing future difficulties.

The College of Polytechnics Jihlava will contribute to eMBecko through donations and staff and student material collections. This will be mainly leisure equipment such as sports equipment, board games, puzzles, paints for painting, books or music listening equipment. The gifts that are successfully collected will be presented to eMBečko representatives during the Christmas at VŠPJ event, which will take place on December 18, 2024 at 3 p.m. in the school courtyard.
