Monday's commemoration of International Students' Day and the Day of the Struggle for Freedom and Democracy, which falls on 17 November, began at 16.00 with the departure of a parade from the VŠPJ Education Centre. The meeting was also attended by the Rector of the VŠPJ, Zdeněk Horák, the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Miloš Vystrčil, the Mayor of Jihlava, Petr Ryška, and the Councillor of the Vysočina Region, Pavel Řehoř, who, after an introductory speech by Veronika Severová, a student from the Student Chamber of the Academic Senate of the VŠPJ, delivered speeches dedicated to the memory of the victims and other personalities of the November events and the importance of the values of freedom and democracy in our time. Together, they then laid flowers at the Keys Monument. At the end of the meeting, the song Prayer for Martha and the national anthem of the Czech Republic were sung.
