Academic Day 2024: A day of music, competitions and dancing.

On Tuesday, 24 September 2024, the Academic Day took place in the Brewery Restaurant Jihlava. Over four hundred students, staff and friends of the school came to compete, meet informally with their classmates and teachers and last but not least to listen to good music.

The Academic Day was opened by the Rector of the Polytechnic University of Jihlava Zdeněk Horák together with representatives of the Vysočina Region, the city of Jihlava, the management of the VŠPJ and representatives of the departments.

During the afternoon, visitors could compete in a pub quiz, play XXXL football, SWAP, take Instax photos or test their physical fitness on the rowing and cross-country skiing simulator.

The music program opened at 4:30 p.m. with garden rock band Utility Goods, who brought an atmosphere bearing the hallmarks of Neil Young, Iggy Pop, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Rory Gallagher to the sunny fall afternoon. The Utility Goods band was accompanied by Miloslav Vilímek, Vice Rector for Creative and Project Activities, on his accordion.

The young pop-rock band Kalybr enticed visitors to the dance floor. The band, originally from Brtnice, entertained the visitors with danceable and relaxed music, energetic atmosphere and a varied repertoire including hits taken from domestic and foreign bands.

Academic Day is a traditional informal opening of the academic year at the Polytechnic University Jihlava. During this informal event, new and existing students, staff and alumni, as well as visitors from the public have the opportunity to spend an afternoon in pleasant company, meet and talk with representatives of the college, heads of departments, guarantors of study programmes and other persons from the College of Education and Science.
