VŠPJ joined the campaign on social safety at universities

The project under the Centralised Development Project of the Ministry of Education and Science: Prevention of Unethical Behaviour on Campus and Promotion of Competence in Victim Care, 2023, in which the University of Applied Sciences and Technology is involved, aims to highlight the risks and introduce possible preventive measures of socially problematic and dangerous situations. The output of the project is a series of 4 educational videos entitled You don't have to - you can.

The individual episodes present model situations that are not to be turned a blind eye to. The conclusion is always accompanied by expert explanations as to why the behaviour demonstrated cannot be accepted not only in a university environment but in real life.

The introductory video was titled Something for Something and concerns the use of power versus fear of the consequences of being rejected by a lower-ranking person. The second part, titled It's Not About Me, appeals to the role of the active bystander. The third episode It Was Just a Photo highlights the dangers of sharing sensitive information. The final episode No Means No explains that defining your own boundaries using just NO is perfectly fine.

This initiative reflects the growing need to focus on the psychological and social aspects of more than just the educational process. The intention is to strengthen the resilience of institutions and individuals to types of unethical behaviour, improving the quality of the environment by implementing measures against the most common manifestations.

 

A trust page has been set up at the Polytechnic University Jihlava for students and employees of the school. It allows anonymous submission of suggestions and comments concerning our school either physically in the lobby of the VŠPJ in the alcove next to the bulletin board of the Study Department of the VŠPJ, or electronically in IS of the VŠPJ, under the tab Operation/Trustbox or by e-mail schranka.duvery@vspj.cz. The information is considered confidential. Apart from this tool, you can also contact the psychologist Mgr. Hana Vláčilová of the Academic Psychological Counselling Centre of the University of Applied Sciences.
