Talented children from the research camp visited VŠPJ

T-CAMP is an exploratory suburban camp that runs from 22 to 26 July in Luka nad Jihlava and its surroundings. Gifted children from Vysočina region with an interest in science and technology have a unique opportunity to visit various educational and scientific institutions in the Highlands and participate in workshops, excursions and meetings with experts.

The children from T-CAMP started their visit to the Laboratory of Experimental Measurements. Here they could try out, for example, tensile tests of metal and plastic materials or work with calipers and a microscope. They then moved on to the 3D Printing Lab, where they were introduced to this technology for producing 3D objects and learned about the possibilities and behind the scenes of different 3D printing methods. In order to print objects, they first need to be prepared in the form of a model, so participants were also introduced to the basics of computer 3D modelling.

After a day in the labs, the campers moved to a convenient station where they could fly a drone, see Jihlava from a perspective and answer questions from the participants. "This is an event in which VŠPJ is repeatedly involved and it is gratifying to know that a generation of talented children who are interested in research, experiments, natural sciences and technology is growing up in our region. It is possible that this excursion will sow the seed of interest in studying at our school and in a few years we will meet them again, this time in the lecture halls," said Ing. Bc. Jana Dvořáková, Ph.D., from the Department of Technical Studies, which arranged the excursion of the campers at the VŠPJ.
