12 years of British Council cooperation with the VŠPJ

12 years ago, RNDr. Jitka Ryšková, a member of the Department of Tourism, brought the idea of establishing the British Council Examination Centre and organizing the Cambridge English Qualification, which is one of the world's most recognized English qualifications. In cooperation with the staff of the Centre for Lifelong Learning (CLL) at the VŠPJ, she implemented this idea into a form that today boasts a number of almost 2000 "graduates" holding a certificate with a lifetime of internationally recognised validity of various language levels - A2, B1, B2, C1 or C2. In addition to these official exams, the founder of the British Council Examination Centre at the VŠPJ organises annual preparatory courses for these exams, weekend courses focused on the language skills tested, and also "mock" exams. All activities, especially the organisation of the official and mock exams, are time-consuming and demanding and require the participation of other specially trained people.

The enthusiasm for this seemingly unglamorous job has lasted to this day for RNDr. Ryskova and her colleagues at CCV, and they are already preparing fall exam dates for the ever-increasing numbers of those seeking international English language certificates. These will make it easier for successful graduates to graduate from high school, study at university or get a job. The reputation that the British Council Examination Centre at the VŠPJ has built through honest work is a guarantee of quality and a friendly approach.
