The Art Therapy course will welcome 24 new participants in the next academic year
The Centre for Lifelong Learning of VŠPJ has been successfully implementing a two-year, professionally oriented Art Therapy course for 10 years. This year, the capacity of the course was filled in record time during the first day of opening of electronic applications. An exciting afternoon was organised by the Centre staff for accepted applicants and alternates on 7 June 2024. During it, they could get acquainted with the specialized classrooms for teaching and participate in two demonstration classes focused on art technique, namely clay work under the guidance of the lecturer Dr. Hájková and group therapy with the lecturer Mgr. Poláková. The candidates gained a concrete insight into the organisation and content of the course, which is mainly practical and experiential.
"Interest in our Art Therapy course is growing every year, despite the fact that it is a subject not yet included in the National Qualifications Framework. Participants on the course use the therapeutic techniques they have learnt in art, music therapy, dance and movement therapy, drama therapy, creative writing in their professions in social services, health, education or in their own personal circumstances. Many graduates further develop the acquired foundation of techniques according to their talents and interests in in-depth courses and then help needy clients find life balance in a way where words are no longer enough," said Mgr. Marie Marek.
