The statue of the Veiled Foot was unveiled in front of the University of Applied Sciences

The sculpture, which refers to the sculpture of the same name by the important artist Jaroslav Šlezinger, was created by the pupils of the 9th grade. The moving fate of this member of the 2nd Czechoslovak Resistance had already captivated the students during the previous Stopping Art project. Therefore, they decided to focus on the person of the sculptor from Vysočina, who was persecuted during both the Nazi and Communist regimes. Not only Pavlína Pitrová, an educational worker at the OGV, but also sculptor Tereza Tecl Brussmannová and architect Vojtěch Tecl from the Jihlava Architectural Manual helped the students with a careful search for information on the person of Jaroslav Šlezinger and with the creation of the sculpture itself.

The opening ceremony for the unveiling of the sculpture took place on Thursday May 9 at 16.00 in the area between the VŠPJ Teaching Centre and Tyršova Street in the place where political prisoners were executed in the 1950s. After a musical opening by a quartet of flutes composed of pupils from the ZUŠ Jihlava, pupils of the Otokara Březina Primary School, Matyáš and Kristýna, gave a presentation on the project and the process of creating the sculpture. Afterwards, the rector of the VŠPJ, Zdeněk Horák, also spoke, who highly appreciated the initiative and creativity of the young people and their deep interest in history. The opening was also attended by the Governor of the Vysočina Region Vítězslav Schrek, Deputy Governor Hana Hajnová and the Mayor of Jihlava Petr Ryška.
