Students of VŠPJ placed third in the national university competition JA Czech

VŠPJ students Bára Marešová, Bára Němcová and Karolína Dobrovolná won 3rd place for their project Dream Book in the national university competition JA Czech in the Top Brand category. The competition takes place at 300 universities across Europe and involves more than 15,000 students.

Participation in the competition brought the students to the podium in a competition of 31 teams from 14 universities from all over the Czech Republic. There was a lot of competition and we also had a lot of study obligations. In the end, our teachers from the subject of the training company, Dr. Berková and Dr. Frendlovská motivated us so much that we went for it," describes the situation that preceded the decision to participate in the competition Bára Marešová.

The prizes for the students for placing in the competition were presented by the Rector of the VŠPJ Zdeněk Horák himself. "I am really happy about such a placement of our students. It is a real success to place 3rd in such a competition. I am glad that we have students at our school who are not afraid to participate in such a competition and want to achieve something. I thank the students very much for the great representation of our school and I congratulate them very much," said the Rector of VŠPJ Zdeněk Horák.

Students from VŠPJ entered the competition with a project of personalized books for children. "The initial idea was to create a suitable gift for children that will be remembered for a lifetime. It is a book with a unified story in which you can choose the names of the main characters, the colour of their eyes, their hair and the place where the book takes place. The goal is for the child to become the main character of the book. We have prepared the books for two age levels - preschool and school age," says Bára Marešová.

For the competition, the students had to not only come up with a product, but also create a logo and a 30-minute commercial. When asked what a good logo should look like, one of the students says: "I think a logo should be memorable and unconventional. We live in a world where we are overwhelmed with stimuli, so the logo needs to be catchy."

JA Czech is part of JA Wordwide, an international not-for-profit educational organisation, and its mission is to provide young people with practical economic education, to develop their knowledge and skills, to inspire and support them to take an active approach to life so that they are able to succeed and be well prepared for the job market.

The College of Polytechnics Jihlava has been cooperating with JA Czech for a few years now. "We cooperate with JA Czech in the framework of invited lectures in the classroom. JA Czech networks not only universities but also primary and secondary schools in the field of entrepreneurship education. I perceive the cooperation with JA Czech as important for the development of entrepreneurial competences of pupils and students at different levels of education," adds Kateřina Berková, lecturer at the Department of Economic Studies at the University of Applied Sciences and also a lecturer of the course "Practical Company" at the University of Applied Sciences.
