The Oil Machine
Directed by Emma Davie
Country of Origin: United Kingdom
Year of production: 2022
The film charts the oil business in the British Isles and North Sea respectively. It tells the story of today's society's pathological dependence on oil, a commodity that is non-renewable in the short term. The company has detailed knowledge of what the unsustainable use of fossil fuels entails and how it may affect future generations. Yet, even in the 21st century, humanity is still heavily dependent on oil, so why has it not pulled the emergency brake and thought more about the future of its descendants? How could our economies become so intertwined with the oil business? This appealing film brings together the views of a wide range of experts*women, students*women and activists*women.
