Rector of VŠPJ Zdeněk Horák became the chairman of the Interregional University Council

For this purpose, the Interregionaláln´ UniversityáCouncil (MUR), a group of representatives of Czech public šcolleges, was formed to share a common vision of the role of universities šcolleges for the development of regions.

MUR was established in May 2022 and currently consists of nine rectors from seven regions of the Czeché Republic. Among them is the Highá šcolleges of polytechnicá Jihlava as the onlyá publicá šcolleges withád in the Vysočina Region. The rector of VŠPJ Zdeněk Horák is itsím chairman since January 2024. „Meziregionální universityí council is a key platform for šcolleges operatingácí in the regions. It promotes and developsá cooperationá of these šcolleges byá helpingá toá shareá experienceá and goodé practice. Such cooperation is needed so that these šcolleges can be relevant partners in the discussion on quality and strategy in higher šeducation. Our še šcolleges, whichá tryá to playá aá role of aá provider of qualityá educationá in the region of the Highlands Region identifies with the visioná and cí li té to the platform. We believe that byááfine cooperationá with similarly focused collegesá we will grow as an institution and increase our quality,“ saidá&d´ rector Zdeněk Horák. 

In the rámce of itsé activities, MUR addresses specificétní témata such as the promotion of quality and sustainableédevelopment of educationání, research and vývoyage e.g. the Czech Republic, posíinternationalisation of regions, cooperation at the level of regions and municipalities or cooperation with the application sphere for the development of the innovative and applied potential of universities and their partners. Since the tragicý lossí at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in December 2023, a newé té has also emerged, whiché resonates in the presenté time, for example, in the Czech Republic. Té matas addressed by the platform are numerous and their relevance and priorities vary over time. Longým témats such as the quality ofýucation,ýresearch& andýwar and theýactionýof&highšcolleges&in&the®ions&in&theárérole (i.e. service to society and socialé activitiesé, ed.), we are intensively discussing té how to ensureé safety at collegesé," addsá rector Zdeněk Horák.

The chairman of the platform is approved by the fullém of the MUR and his term´ is set at 6 months. The Chairperson coordinates in cooperation with the MUR members, in particular, the communication with external partners, the implementation of the MUR's activities and the administrative management of the MUR's activities, including PR activities.
