VŠPJ will commemorate the International Student Day and the Day of Struggle for Freedom and Democracy
On Thursday, November 16, 2023, on the eve of the International Student Day and the Day of the Struggle for Freedom and Democracy, the Polytechnic College Jihlava together with the Society for the Restoration of the TGM Statue in Jihlava will organize the SETKÁNÍNÍ LIGHTS AT THE CLÍ. The event will commemorate the historical events of 1939 and the Velvet Revolution fifty years later. Join us for the parade of lights, which will start at 4 p.m.
On November 16, 2023, on the eve of the International Student Day and the Day of the Struggle for Freedom and Democracy, we will commemorate two events in history: the 17th International Student Day and the Day of the Struggle for Freedom and Democracy. November 1939, when the Nazis closed down the Czech universities and executed patriotic students, and 17 November 1989, when a demonstration to mark the anniversary of the 1939 "lost" event turned into a protest against the Communist regime and the subsequent Velvet Revolution.
The event will begin with a parade of lights from the Výukovécenter in VŠPJ at 4 p.m. The actual commemorative meeting will take place at 4.30 pm at the Klí memorial in the Czechýlu of the Czechýmlýn (opposite the tennisýcourts).
