VŠPJ has its hand in the fire at the European University Championships in martial arts 2023

Student of the Bachelor of Applied Computer Science Marek Šmarda will take part in the 19th to 24th July 2023 European University Championships in Combat Sports. The student will be included in the UNIS project, which provides support to top highýýý&year athletes, to represent V&Scaron&PJ in taekwondo.

The 2023 European University Martial Arts Championships, which will take place from 19 to 24 July in Zá, Croatia, will feature four martial arts sports - judo, karate, kick boxing and taekwondo. For Marek Šmarda, whoý in May this year took third´ place at the Czeché National Taekwondo Championships, this is the last´ big sporting´ event before the fullá summer´ break. „After two úwaterí days, whiché will be dedicated to the úning and váwomení, I will be waiting´ on Saturday 22. July firstá ofá passes,“ said before hisý departure for the championship´ Marek Šmarda, student 4. semester of the bacheloráé program Appliedá Informatics at the Department of Technicalý V&Scaron& PJ and vice-champion of the Czeché republic in the  taekwondo of 2021.

Marek Šmarda is one of four VŠPJ students currently enrolled in the dualální careeréry UNIS organization Victoria, the Highškolského sports´center of the Ministry of školství, mládeje and physicalýbreeding. The aim of the project, which was launched in 2020, is to create the conditions for the úý&ný and promising úý athletes with extraáathleticý abilityý to study and combine bothá year&yearý studyý requirementsý andá athleticý preparationý forá competitioný. „The UNIS program has helped me a lot this pasté academicé year with my studies. The summerý semester was in the spirit of longý term projects and there was really a lot that needed to be done. Due to the fact that I had the opportunity to finish according to myý needs and the teachersé knew about me and were accommodating, Iú did not fully drop out of the sport;the rhythm and I was able to focus my sport i study for the answers úgiveá ú “ parallel,“ says á Marek Šmarda and dále continues: „Soé I have made a lot of use of different permanents in the rá program UNIS. It helped me a lot that I had the opportunity to go to the sauna or swim.“
