VŠPJ has a new rector. He is Zdeněk Horák

On Sunday, July 24, 2022, the term of office of the new Rector of the Polytechnic College Jihlava doc. Zdeněk Horáka. The current vice-rector for creative and project activities and head of the department of technicalýýý& studies was elected rector in a secret election by the Academicýý& sená&t of the V&Scaron&PJ this January. In June, the President of the Republic appointed him Rector at Prague Castle for the term of office 2022 – 2026. Rector Zdeněk Horák will officially take up the position during the inauguration ceremony, which will take place on 12 October 2022 in the Great Gothic Hall of the Jihlava City Hall.

Rector Horák, who has beená at VŠPJ since 2015, studied biomedicalá and rehabilitationá engineeringá at the Czech Technical University in Prague. He completed his doctoral studies in biomechanics there. In 2015 he habilitated at his alma mater as an associate professor in the field of applied mechanics. He has long been involved in materialýýýý& research, designýý and testýý of mechanicalýý componentsý and medicalý devices. Since 2014 he has been working as an expert in the field of forensic biomechanics and technical condition of implantable medical devices. In addition to VŠPJ, Horák also teaches at the 3rd Faculty of Surgery of Charles University.

Rector Zdeněk Horák is the fourth personalityá at the head of the Jihlava &scaroné university. He succeeded Prof. Václava Báchu, who was rector in 2014 – 2022. Bácha will also serve at VáPJ aboveále, as Vice-Rector for Externaláí, Internalá and Interánatal´ Relations and the status ofární ofádegree of the Rector. The Rector Emeritus of Bá believesá that his ná degree will build on his prá ci. „Doc. Horák has long been involved in the management of šcolleges. I think that we have very similar visions for its´furtheršídirection,“ he said.
