President Zeman appoints new Rector of the University of Applied Sciences

On Wednesday, 15 June, at Prague Castle, the President of the Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman, appointed the current Vice-Rector of the Polytechnic College Jihlava, doc. Zdeněk Horáka. The term of office of the new rector will begin on July 24, 2022 and will last until July 2026. Assoc. Horák after the clinicaléanatomist prof. Václav Báčov, whoál headed the šcollege since 2014. Horáka was elected as a candidate for rector in January by the Academicát Senate of the VŠPJ in a secretánívote, and was the only candidate in the election. Doc. Horák has been working at VŠPJ since 2015, currently as vice-rector for creativeá and project activities and fromá the head of the department of technicalý studies.

In the nextáperiod´period´ VŠPJ wants to expandátheárange&of&professionally&orientedéstudies&andále&emphasizeáqualityýeducation. Doc. Zdeněk Horák graduated in 2001 from biomedicalénské and rehabilitationé engineeringýrství at the Czech Technical University in Prague. He completed his doctoral studies in biomechanics there. In 2015 he habilitated at his alma mater as an associate professor in the field of applied mechanics. He has long been involved in, among other things, materialýhuntingýresearch, designýand testýof machineýcomponentsýand medicalýdevices. Since 2014 he has been working as an expert in the field of forensic biomechanics and technical condition of implantable medical devices. In addition to VŠPJ teaches doc. Horák alsoé at the 3rd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University.
