VŠPJ honoured the memory of Evžen Plock

Fromádegree of the Rector and Vice-Rector for creative´ and project activities doc. Ing. Zdeněk Horák, Ph.D., and Vice-Rector for Studies RNDr. Jana Borůvková, Ph.D., On Monday, April 4, 2022, together with the head of the Rector's Office, Miloslav Vytasil, laid a bouquet of flowers at the memorial plaque of Evžen Płock at Masaryk University in Jihlava. They commemorated the sacrifice of this citizen of Jihlava, who 53 years ago rose up in protest against the occupation of Czechoslovakia by the troops of the Treaty of Var&scaroné.

Evžen Plocek was a reformist communist and a staunchly religious Catholic who could not accept the invasion of VaršTreaty into Czechoslovakia and the náýlatterýpoliticalýwar that resulted in normalization. Therefore, on the Greatý pátek of April 4, 1969, he protested in the nácityí of Jihlava. After Jan Palach and Jan Zajíc, he became the thirdí so called living torchí. He died on April 9, 1969, of následin popálenin in jihlavské hospital.
