Rector of the University of Applied Sciences honoured the memory of the victims of the 1968 invasion
August 21 is officially commemorated in the Czech Republic as Memorial Day of the Victims of the 1968 Invasion and the Aftermath of the Occupation by the Warsaw Pact Troops. On theáoccasion of theáyeará, the rector of VáPJ Václav Bácha honoured theáyeará20. August 2021 by laying a symbolic bouquet of flowers at the memorial plaque of Eugen Plock at Masaryk Square in Jihlava. The memorial act was attended by the Vice-Rector for Studies, Jana Borůvková.
Evžen Plocek was a reformist communist and a Catholic fromáequaláfaith whoácouldánotáreconcileáwith the invasion of Czechoslovakia by the troops of the Treaty of Var&scaroné and the subsequent politicalý war that resulted in the normalization. Therefore, on the Greatýpátek of April 4, 1969, he protested in the town of Jihlava. After Jan Palach and Jan Zají he thus became the thirdí so called living marchí.
