Experts discuss the impact of the pandemic on tourism in the regions

On March 3, 2021, the Department of Tourism of the VŠPJ realized the first virtualáln´ professionalán´ meeting „In the wordíchko“. Discussants were Jaromír Polášek (director of the South Bohemiaé tourism centre), Tomáš Čihák (director of the destination organisation Vysočina Tourism), Zdenka Nosková (chairwoman of the Association of Rural Tourism and Agrotourism) and Soňa Machová (CzechTourism).

On March 3, 2021, the Department of Tourism of the VŠPJ realized the first virtualáln´ professionalán´ meeting „In the wordíchko“. Discussants were Jaromár Polášek (director of the South Bohemiaá tourism centre), Tomáš Čihák (director of the destination organisation Vysočina Tourism), Zdenka Nosková (chairwoman of the Association of Rural Tourism and Agrotourism) and Soňa Machová (CzechTourism).

The discussion was attended by about 135 participants. These were from tourism regions, professionals from public administration, but also from colleges and universities. Several students also joined the úfrequentípeople. The discussion was moderated by Stanislava Pachrová from the Department of Tourism. The focus was on the impact of the pandemic on tourism regions. Soňa Machová from CzechTourism presented the currentá view on the situation in tourism in Czeché Republic. „Although I did not present tooíš positiveí numbers, theé atmosphereé during the discussion was greatá. Thank you very much for the invitationání,“ she stated. The presentation, including statisticalých summaries, is available on the webých pages of the discussion. Jaromír Polášek and Tomáš Čihák presented the situation of destination organizations, problems, but also theýhabits thaté destinations are facing. Zdenka Nosková from the Union of Rural Tourism and Agrotourism brought to the discussion the point of view of tourism entrepreneurs.

„The discussion probíh took place in a relaxedé atmosphereé and brought many interestingés,“ states Peter Scholz from the Department of Tourismé. „I find this model very attractive. Two hours is so much more than that. I learned a lot of interesting things from my colleagues,“ said Zdenka Nosková, one of the  discussants.

Ivica Linderová, whoá was in charge of organising the discussion, said: „Immediately after the end of theí discussion, we received feedback from many úattendees thankingáním and appreciating the professionalism of the event. The positiveá reactions were reallyá, especially because this was the firstá project of this type and we had no experience with the implementation.The “ Department of Tourism plans to organize online discussion meetings in the future repeatedly. Originally, we organized the discussion in order to preserve the traditional professional meetings at VšPJ. In March, we traditionally probíhá atše conferences. However, the currentá situation did not allow it,“ Linderová spoke. „ Since this form of sharingá informationá was found to be good,á we would organize discussioná meetingsá repeatedly. We are considering an autumn date,“ to“ addáá.
