Representatives of the Jihlava University commemorated the events of August 1968. The classic state examinations as a relic of the times. Schools are gradually moving away from monologues. Lower earnings of women do not necessarily indicate wage discriminationi. Some media readers may have read such headlines in relation to our college during August.

One of the key issues concerning the Polytechnic College that received a lot of press coverage was the commemoration of the executions of political prisoners that took place on August 2. The commemoration event was announced in advance by the websites of the regional town hall jihlava.cz or Jihlava Daily and Jihlava List. In advance, the Vysočina news website or MF DNES and Právo also invited the public to the commemoration in Tyršova Street.

The memorial act was subsequently commented on after the event by Jihlavská drbna or Jihlavské listy.

Another historical commemoration took place on Friday, 21 August, on the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Invasion and Subsequent Occupation by the Warsaw Pact Troops. The rector of the VŠPJ, Václav Báča, symbolically laid a bouquet of flowers at the memorial plaque of Evžen Płock on Masaryk Square in Jihlava. It was reported by Vysočina News, Regionalist or Deník.

The Jihlava City Hall newspaper then wrote about the cancelled graduations back in August because of the epidemiological situation in the Jihlava region at the time. The same topic was also covered by the editors of radio Impuls.

An interview with the rector of VŠPJ, Václav Bača, in an article titled "What did you hear, see, read during the pandemic and what will you use from it?" for the print edition of the Sport Speciál magazine, one of the interviewees, Petr Ryška, the chairman of the Czech Swimming Sports Association, reflected on it.

In mid-August, the Polytechnic College became the first university to have its own travelling stones. It was written about in Mladá Fronta Dnes, in Deník, in Novinách Kraje Vysočina and also on the portal jihlavacity.cz.

The VŠPJ is also mentioned in an article about universities with currently open admissions, which you could read in the magazine Rodina Dnes, which is a supplement to MF DNES.

The new auditorium at the VŠPJ Learning Centre was visited by film lovers during the second holiday month as part of the screening of the documentary The Stolen State. It was held as part of the Live Cinema, which is an accompanying programme of the Ji.hlava IDFF, as reported by MF DNES or Jihlavské listy. It was the first launch film of the whole project this year, as Právo reported.

The news channel CNN Prima News featured a great interview with Veronika Hedija, an economics expert at the University of Applied Sciences, on the topic of the pay gap between men and women. Her other opinions, this time on tax issues, were published here by the same portal. Veronika Hedija also commented for CNN Prima News on the impact of the coronavirus crisis.

A statement by VŠPJ spokesperson Vendula Marešová on the topic of a possible change in the form of the current state examinations was published at the beginning of August by the idnes.cz website

More information about the architecture of the new modern VŠPJ Learning Centre is available on the asb-portal.

The website tzb.info and itmix.cz also wrote about the Polytechnic University in an interview with the new member of the Energy Regulatory Office's board, Marketa Zemanova, who has worked at the VŠPJ for several years. The new spokeswoman of Rakovník, Kateřina Hradilová, was also a student at the VŠPJ in the past, according to the weekly Raport.

In the second half of August, a sad event struck VŠPJ, namely the death of the first ever rector of the university, Dr. Ladislav Jirka.
