Jubilarians received commemorative medals from the Rector

At the ceremonial meeting of the Rector's College and Academic Senate, which took place on 22 June, the Rector's College and Academic Senate held a meeting on 22 June. The Rector of VŠPJ Václav Báča together with the Chairwoman of the Academic Senate of VŠPJ Hana Vojá presented the Rector of VŠPJ with the award on 22nd June in the Auditorium of the Academic Centre;commemorative medals on the occasion of theýsignificantý lifeý anniversaries of theý members of theé academicé community of theš š College of Polytechnicé Jihlava. This medal is awarded to personalities who have contributed to the ší improvement of education and academic freedoms, especially to the development of VŠPJ. It is awarded for distinguished service to the VŠPJ and its relations with the VŠPJ, and for activities in areas related to the scientific, creative, and pedagogical focus of the šcollege.  This award was firstéé&ed in lastéé&each&year on the occasion of the fifthéé&yearéé of theýé foundingé of the&scaron&PJ.

The firstý&yearšným was awarded to Doc. RNDr. Zdeněk LAŠTOVIČKA, CSc., who was awarded the medal on the occasion of his 80th birthday. Associate professor Laštovička fought to preserve the šní highškolstvoí in Jihlava and when that failed, inýaýsignificantýway he participated inítheé establishment of theé školy polytechnické Jihlava, where náIn 2004-2007 he served as the firstá vice-rector for science, research and lifelongá educationá. Hisá activitiesí contributed to the development of tertiární educationávání in Vysočina Region and dále actively participated inátheátopá insigniaí ináPJ. He has aá relationship to the history and memory of ourá region, but the object of his greatestá admiration and scientificá interest is the nature of the Highlands, in theá research, documentation and protection of which he has been intensively involved for most of hisá life. In 1995-1998 he served as the mayor of Jihlava. During his prolific professional and creative life, he received many awards and honours, including the highest award of the VŠší VŠPJ, the Medal of the Centre of the Highlands.  Zdeněk Laštovička is, in hisýpersonal, professional´and publicýactivities, a model of a man who can´inšall these parts of life combined with highým moralálním credit and specificétní activitiesí for the benefit of the Highlands.

The second medal was presented by the Rector of Bácha to Prof. PhDr. Petr CHALUPA, CSc. whoý celebrated his 75th birthday this year. Prof. Chalupa contributed to the VŠPJ inýaýsignificantýway to the´completion& ofáthe&first´accreditation&ofábachelorádegree&in&travel&tourism&in&2005. Since 2009, he has been the professional guarantor of this field of study. As a geographer, he is primarily involved in economic and regional geography and is a fully recognized expert on Latin American issues. He is the initiator of newýprojects and contractual´cooperation of the Department of Tourism of VŠPJ. It is dedicated to the cooperation of the šcolleges with applicationé sfé rou foreší in the field of evaluation´ of the potential ofá tourism. It is also to his credit that the VŠPJ has become theává acknowledgedávanýto theáprofessionalýworkers in the field. Petr Chalupa is an excellent teacher, who has great respect and esteem from students and colleagues. The students appreciate not only his professionalism but also the quality of his personality, approachability and patience. „Unlike other highýý institutions where I have worked, VŠPJ is truly a livingý organism thatý is constantlyáonly developí and changeí, “ appreciated the meansí at&scaron& í highé &scaron& colleges Professor Chalupa during theá rá ní commemorativeí medal.
