Programme of celebrations

February 1 and 3, 2024, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. | VŠPJ Open Doors Days

We are inviting you to come visit the College of Polytechnics Jihlava. The Open Doors Days of the College of Polytechnics will take place on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on February 3, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to tours of the medical, technical, economic or social programmes, potential applicants can also look forward to presentations by individual departments, which will give them an overview of their study options. They will also get a unique opportunity to talk to current students at info points, and test their English at the British Council Test Centre.
 

 

March 15, 2024, 7.30 p.m. | 8th VŠPJ Representative Ball

The Rector of the College of Polytechnics Jihlava invites employees, students and the general public to the 8th Representative Ball of the College of Polytechnics Jihlava, which will take place on Friday, March 15, 2024 in the premises of the Dělnický dům at Žižkova 15, Jihlava. The door of the Dělnický dům will open at 7 p.m. and the ball itself will start at 7.30 p.m.

April 23, 2024 | Roundtable: Vocational training programmes and their relevance for regions

The College of Polytechnics Jihlava is organising a round table to share good practice and discuss current issues related to vocational study programmes. Representatives of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, rectors of universities, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic, representatives of local governments, etc. are invited to the round table. Registration is possible until April 10, 2024 at the e-mail address lucia.dostalova@vspj.cz.

 

May 21, 2024 | Euro or Koruna? Public debate on the possible adoption of the Euro in the Czech Republic

The College of Polytechnics Jihlava invites all interested employees, students and the public to a debate on the possible adoption of the Euro in the Czech Republic. This year, we will celebrate 20 years of the Czech Republic's accession to the European Union. From this point of view, it is a good opportunity to discuss the possible adoption of the European currency. Why should we adopt the European currency? Who has the most to gain and who has the most to lose by adopting the euro? These and other questions will be discussed by Pavel Drobil from the Confederation of Industry and Trade, Martin Slany, Chief Economist of DRFG Group, and Petr Musil from the National Budget Council. Come and discuss with us and tell us your opinion.
 

 

June 3 - June 9, 2024 | The Week of Higher Education in Jihlava - 20 years of VŠPJ

The College of Polytechnics Jihlava was established by law on June 3, 2004 as the first non-university institution of higher education in the Czech Republic. In the two decades since its foundation, it has become an indispensable centre of regional education.  The College of Polytechnics Jihlava will celebrate The Week of Higher Education in Jihlava from June 3 to June 9, 2024. Students, staff and the general public can look forward to concerts, lectures, public discussions, and sport activities.  The birthday celebrations are financially supported by the Vysočina Region and the Statutory City of Jihlava.

June 5, 2024 | Unveiling of the Memorial to the Executed Innocent Victims of the Communist Regime
The building of the College of Polytechnics Jihlava witnessed the turbulent Czechoslovak history of the 20th century. The political prisoners executed behind the brick wall of the former regional court in Tyršova Street will be commemorated by the Memorial to the Executed Innocent Victims of the Communist Regime, which will be unveiled on June 5, 2024 at 3 p.m. The memorial will stand on the site where 11 people lost their lives in mock trials in the 1950s. The College of Polytechnics Jihlava and the Statutory City of Jihlava invite all interested parties to the unveiling ceremony behind the Educational Centre of the College of Polytechnics Jihlava. The author of the memorial is architect Zdeněk Sendler.
 
 
June 5, 2024 | Polytechna Fest - concert series to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the college

Electronic one man show by Ventolin, noise explosions of the Chief Bromden band, jazz and soul soaked hip hop of Jihlava's Behind the Beat Band, energetic group of musicians SpazierGang or drumming performance of the group Drumband consisting of clients of the Adult Daycare Centre Jihlava. These are just some of the highlights of the rich Polytechna Fest programme. You can also look forward to an accompanying programme, a varied offer of food and drinks or sports activities.

 
June 6, 2024 | Let' sport with the College of Polytechnics Jihlava
On June 6, 2024, the College of Polytechnics is organizing the traditional event Let's sport with the College of Polytechnics Jihlava. It will take place for the seventh time on Masaryk Square in Jihlava, from 11 a.m. to 17 p.m. Visitors can expect a day full of fun and sport. Active and passive athletes can look forward to the traditional human table football tournament for the perpetual trophy and a unique opportunity to try out the climbing wall, baseball, some athletics, parkour, archery, bench press and more. The event has been supported by the Vysočina Region and the Statutory City of Jihlava.
 
 
June 7 - 9, 2024 | The Rector Ladislav Jirků Memorial

The 20th anniversary of the colleges's founding will commemorate its first rector Ladislav Jirků and his passion for baseball. From June 7 to June 9, the officialy first international baseball tournament, the Rector Ladislav Jirků Memorial - VŠPJ Cup, will take place at the Otokara Březina and Demlova Elementary School sports complex as part of the Let's sport with VŠPJ 2024 event. The international baseball tournament is intended for teams competing in the youth category up to 13 years old. Teams from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria and Germany will come to play for the perpetual trophy. The event is held with the financial support of the Vysočina Region and the Statutory City of Jihlava.

September 24, 2024 | Academic Day of VŠPJ

Academic Day is the traditional informal opening of the academic year at the College of Polytechnics Jihlava. During this event, new and current students, staff and alumni, as well as visitors from the public, have the opportunity to spend an afternoon in pleasant company, meet and talk with representatives of the college, heads of departments, supervisors of study programmes and other persons from the VŠPJ.

November 18, 2024 | Procession commemorating the events of November 17

On the occasion of the International Students' Day and the Day of Struggle for Freedom and Democracy, the Student Chamber of the Academic Senate of the College of Polytechnics is organizing a procession to the Keys Monument. The event commemorates the historical events of 1939 and the Velvet Revolution fifty years later in 1989.

November 19 - 21, 2024 | Jobstart 2024

Jobstart is a job and internship fair for students, alumni, staff and friends of the college. Each year, interested parties can look forward to offers from exhibitors and a programme of dedicated talks focusing on professional skills development. The VŠPJ thus provides a unique opportunity for students to map the job market, informally meet future supervisors and co-workers, make contacts, complete a mock interview or listen to a lecture on the career path of VŠPJ graduates.

December 18, 2024 | Christmas at VŠPJ

Christmas at VŠPJ is a traditional charity event, in which students and employees of VŠPJ support a selected non-profit organization from the Vysočina Region with a material collection. This year VŠPJ will support eMBéčko, a low-threshold facility for children and youth in Moravské Budějovice. The low-threshold facility eMBéčko provides children and youth aged 7 to 20 years old who are in the Třebíč district in the streets, parks and other outdoor places and spend their free time in an unorganized way, with the safe space of the club and field work in the streets, professional and basic counseling in the field of relationships, school, drugs, educational problems, violence, etc.
