Rector of the University of Applied Sciences honoured the memory of T. G. Masaryk

Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk (*March 7, 1850 in Hodonín–† 14. Fromárí 1937 in Lánech) was a Czechý philosopher, scientist, sociologist, educator, politician, whoá was elected the firstámce-nbsp-wrap" contenteditable="false"> president of Czechoslovakia inMarch 1918. He was often referred to as President Liberator for his role in the establishment of the independent Czechoslovak state.

In úterý 14. zárí at 14:30, aání meeting was held in Jana Masaryka Street in Jihlava to commemorate the 84th anniversary of theání. Iný ú yearý ú of theý death ofý thisý eminenté personality of moderný Czechý history. In addition to the rector of VŠPJ, Prof. Václave Báchi, they honoured the memory of T. G. Masaryk by laying flowers at his statue, the President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Milo Vystrčil, the Governor of the Vysočina Region Vítězslav Schrek, the Mayor of Jihlava Karol Koubována Koubová and the MP Vít Kaňkovský. The meeting was also attended by members of the TJ Sokol Jihlava or the Association for the restoration of the TGM statue in Jihlava.

After a symbolicé minute's silence, theý še listedí representativesé gave theirý speeches in which they recalled the attitudes and legacy of T. G. Masaryk. „Let us return to the truth, surround ourselves with wise people and discuss freely with these wise people, develop their thoughts and ideas and do not be afraid. This, I firmly believe, will lead to understanding and respect for each other, said VŠPJ Rector Prof. Václav Bácha in his speech.
